GOOD BRAIN DAY
Privacy Policy for Line by Line Reader
Last updated: 28 September 2026
In short: Line by Line Reader does not collect your data, does not send anything to us or anyone else, and has no accounts, tracking, analytics or adverts. Everything happens on your own device.
About this policy
Line by Line Reader (“the extension”) is a free browser extension made by Good Brain Day (“we”, “us”). It shows the article you are reading in a simple, distraction-free view and highlights one line or paragraph at a time. This policy explains what the extension does and does not do with information.
What the extension accesses
The extension only does anything when you choose to switch it on for a page, by clicking its toolbar button or pressing its keyboard shortcut (Alt+R). When you do, it reads the text, headings, lists, links and images of that page, on your device, so it can show the article in the reader view. This page content is processed in your browser only. It is not stored by the extension and is never sent to us or to anyone else.
What the extension stores on your device
To let the reader reopen the way you left it, the extension saves a small amount of information in your browser’s own extension storage (chrome.storage.local):
| What | Why |
|---|---|
| Your reader settings: colour theme, text size, font, line or paragraph mode, and whether images, fading and steady scrolling are switched on | So your preferences are remembered |
| Your reading position in each article: the page address (without any part after the “?” or “#”) and how far through the text you had reached | So the reader can return you to where you stopped |
This information stays on your device. It is not uploaded, synchronised, shared or used for any other purpose. You can remove it at any time by uninstalling the extension or by clearing the extension’s data in your browser.
What we do not do
- We do not collect personal information such as your name, email address, location or health information.
- We do not track which sites you visit, and we do not keep a history of your browsing anywhere except the reading positions described above, which never leave your device.
- We do not record what you type, click or scroll for any purpose other than operating the reader while it is open.
- We do not use analytics, advertising, cookies or third-party services.
- We do not sell, share or transfer any user data to third parties.
- We do not use or transfer user data for purposes unrelated to the extension’s single purpose of making articles easier to read, or to determine creditworthiness or for lending.
- We do not load or run any code from outside the extension. The extension makes no network requests of its own.
Images
If you choose to show article images in the reader, they are displayed using the same image addresses that are already on the page, and your browser loads them in the normal way, exactly as it would when you view the original page. The extension does not copy, upload or store them.
Permissions the extension asks for
- activeTab: lets the extension work on the page you are viewing, only after you activate it. It gives no access to your other tabs or sites.
- scripting: lets the extension add its reader to the page you activated it on, using code that is packaged inside the extension.
- storage: lets the extension save the settings and reading positions described above on your device.
Children
The extension does not collect any information from anyone, including children.
Changes to this policy
If the extension changes in a way that affects how information is handled, we will update this page and the date at the top before the change is released.
